Configure installment payment plans with flexible schedules, automatic reminders, and late fee policies
How to Setup Installments
Allow students to pay course fees in installments with configurable schedules, automatic reminders, and optional late fees.
Creating an Installment Plan
- Go to a Course → Settings → Payment Options
- Enable Installment Payments
- Configure the plan:
| Setting | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Total Amount | Full course fee | ৳5,000 |
| Number of Installments | How many payments | 3 |
| Schedule Type | When payments are due | Monthly, Custom |
| First Installment | Amount of first payment | ৳2,000 (can be higher) |
| Remaining Split | How remaining is divided | ৳1,500 each |
| Grace Period | Days after due before late | 3 days |
| Late Fee | Penalty for late payment | ৳100 or 5% |
- Click Save Installment Plan

How Installments Work
Student enrolls → Pays 1st installment → Gets access
↓
Installment 2 due date approaches → Reminder sent
↓
Student pays 2nd installment → Access continues
↓
Missed payment → Grace period → Late fee added
↓
Final installment paid → Fully paid status
- Enrollment: Student pays the first installment to enroll in the course
- Access: Student gets full course access after the first payment
- Reminders: Automatic reminders are sent before each due date
- Payment: Student pays subsequent installments on schedule
- Completion: After all installments are paid, the course is marked as fully paid
Important: By default, students retain access even if an installment is overdue. You can configure access restriction for overdue payments in course settings.
Automatic Reminders
The system sends reminders automatically:

| 3 days before due | SMS/Email | "Your installment of ৳1,500 is due on [date]" |
| On due date | SMS/Email | "Your installment is due today" |
| 3 days overdue | SMS/Email | "Your payment is overdue. Late fee may apply" |
Tracking Installments
- Per Student: Students → Select student → Payments tab shows installment progress bar
- Course Overview: Course → Payments → Installment summary with pending/paid/overdue counts
- Dashboard: Overview widget showing total outstanding installments
