Automatically track student attendance during live classes based on join time and duration thresholds

Live Class Attendance

Attendance for live classes is tracked automatically. When students join a live session, their attendance is recorded based on join time and participation duration.

How It Works

Live class starts
    ↓
Student joins the live session
    ↓
Join time recorded automatically
    ↓
Duration tracked throughout the session
    ↓
Attendance marked based on rules:
├── Joined within first 15 min → Present
├── Joined after 15 min → Late
├── Stayed less than 50% of session → Absent
└── Never joined → Absent

Attendance Rules

Configure thresholds at Settings → Attendance → Live Class Rules:

Viewing Live Class Attendance

  1. After a live class ends, go to Attendance → Live Class
  2. Select the class session
  3. View:

Student NameStudent identifier
Join TimeWhen they joined
Leave TimeWhen they left
DurationTotal time in session
StatusPresent, Late, or Absent

Manual Overrides

Teachers can override automatic attendance:

  • Click on any student entry
  • Change status (e.g., mark "Absent" student as "Excused")
  • Add a note explaining the change

Integration with Overall Attendance

Live class attendance is combined with manual and QR attendance into a unified report. The attendance dashboard shows all types together.
