How to Manage Exams
Course37 provides a comprehensive exam system covering the entire lifecycle — from creating questions to publishing results. Whether you need online quizzes, timed assessments, or paper-based exams with OMR scanning, everything is built in.
Exam Types
| Type | Description | Best For |

| Live Exam | Timed, proctored online exam with anti-cheat features | Graded assessments, mid-terms, finals |
| Practice Exam | Untimed, self-paced for student practice | Homework, revision, self-assessment |

The Exam Lifecycle
Every exam follows this workflow:
1. Create Questions → 2. Build Question Bank → 3. Create Exam
↓ ↓
4. Configure Settings → 5. Generate Sets → 6. Publish
↓ ↓
7. Students Take Exam → 8. Auto-Grade (MCQ) → 9. Manual Grade (CQ/SQ)
↓
10. Review Results → 11. Grace Marks (if needed) → 12. Publish Results
Creating an Exam
- Go to Exams in the sidebar
- Click Create Exam
- Fill in:
- Exam Name — e.g., "HSC Physics Model Test 1"
- Exam Type — Live, Practice, or Offline
- Subject — From your curriculum hierarchy
- Duration — Time limit (for timed exams)
- Total Marks — Maximum score
- Pass Marks — Minimum score to pass
- Schedule — Start and end time window
- Click Create

Managing Existing Exams
- Go to Exams in the sidebar
- View all exams with their status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not yet published — still being prepared |
| Scheduled | Published with a future start time |
| Active | Currently live — students can take it |
| Completed | Past the end time — no more submissions |
| Graded | All submissions reviewed and scored |
- Click an exam to:
- Edit questions, settings, or schedule
- View submissions — See all student answers
- View results — Merit list with scores
- Download reports — Export results as Excel/CSV
- Give grace marks — Adjust scores if needed

Question Types
Course37 supports three question formats:
